INTRODUCTION

Entrepreneur is defined as an individual who organizes or operates a business or businesses while entrepreneurship is the process of starting a business, typically a startup company offering an innovative product, process or service. The entrepreneur perceives an opportunity and often exhibits biases in taking the decision to exploit the opportunity. The exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities includes design actions to develop a business plan, acquire the human, financial and other required resources and to be responsible for its success or failure.Entrepreneurship may operate within an entrepreneurship ecosystem which includes government programs and services that support entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship resources, entrepreneurship education and training and financing.An entrepreneur is willing and able to convert a new idea or invention into a successful innovation. 

Entrepreneurs are catalyst in propelling  the country’s economy. A country will not go forward without a successful entrepreneur globally. Entrepreneurs raised  their country’s name  internationally and  strengthening the economy of their country and yet increases the yield of country. In this group task,we would highlight  about the characteristics of a successful entrepreneurs and some examples of entrepreneurs either in this country nor outside there that related to their characteristics. In addition, we would  know the efforts of entrepreneurs in order to contribute their creativity and innovation to make use for mankind in the future.

A) THE MEANING AND THE QUALITIES OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

1.    NETWORK
A group of people or organization or places that are connected or that work together. Networker should be generous and practice the art of giving, and should be established  relationships with other individuals, build a friendly relationship with other members of the networks. A large collection of business cards and a huge contact list doesn’t make you an expert at networking. Building value-based relationships that are truly meaningful is what networking is all about. These are the relationships that lead to business opportunities and long-term relationships that are mutually beneficial.

      With his experience as Deputy Commissioner of Lands and Mines and experience for about 21 years in real estate development industry, Tan Sri Datuk Hj Mustapha Kamal is known as an active executive chairman and practical, to oversee and determine their own direction for the Group's operations with a vision and goals, at the same time, he devotes extensive knowledge of the industry to have its staff. Tan Sri is also largely contributed to both local and international real estate industry. Among other things, he was the Director of South-South Corporation Berhad (MASSCORP) executive committee member of the Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) and National Coordinator for Africa. 

2.    OPEN RISK TAKER
An action or activity in which someone takes risks to achieve a benefit. The risk taker feels very confident to achieve goals for company while the others cannot. The risk taker automatically try to complete the task when someone tells them it is not possible. 

     Tan Sri Dr Anthony Francis Fernandes


Tan Sri Dr Anthony Francis Fernandes is one of the entrepreneurs who has had an appetite for taking risks. He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Asia and founder of Tune Group. He set the vision of Air Asia is "To become the largest low cost airline in Asia and serving the three billion people who are often charged high fares”. He started Air Asia just a few months after 9/11,so there was an economic slump. Also, people in this part of the world were not yet well acquainted with the low-cost air travel concept. No have anyone willing to take risk, but Tony Fernandes even went as far as to mortgage his house and use up most of his personal savings to  acquire the airlines with two ageing Boeing 737-300 jets and US$11 million worth of debts. Within a year, Air Asia had achieved breakeven point and cleared all its debts.Whatever we may choose to say, but Tony Fernandes took the risk positively which is an essential skill for entrepreneurs to succeed. 

3.    OBSERVANT
Focusing and noticing everything that happens. The observer become more self-aware by being able to know theirself and be aware of how they are, how  they act, how they come off. They should have a sense of the kind of energy you give off. 

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary


Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is someone who does know the meaning of failure and he always learn from any mistakes that he made. Plus,he is also someone who is very cautious and particular in every single thing that he made. He is very concerned about the situation of the poor and the needy. Syed Mokhtar started his real business in the southern Malaysia,selling and distributing rice. With the acquired knowledge and increase in his entrepreneurship skills, he later ventured into trading, logistics and shipping. His mother’s advice to treat part of the money he received as belonging to the poor and the needy remains at the core of his heart.
True enough, when he was merely 23 years old, he gave away half of his monthly income of RM1,500 to the needy, donating it to 15 poor families in his village. He has never stopped giving. In 1996,Syed Mokhtar set up Al-Bukhary Foundation to assist the needy,with him as the sole donator. The foundation finances English, Science and Mathematics classes for more than 20,000 underachieving students every year, as well as running a college scholarship program for 300 students in more than 40 countries.Between 1996 and 2006, the Al-Bukhary Foundation has contributed about 1 billion for various charity causes.

4.    VISIONARY
Showing a lot of imagination with clear ideas or hopes on how  something should be done or how things will be in the future. The visioner seems to see the future, build an accurate conceptual model of the future based on their understanding that bring the model into reality and creating the future.

Tan Sri Dato’ Loh Boon Siew


      Tan Sri Dato’ Loh Boon Siew is a successfull entrepreneur  who has a high consideration for his company to bring Honda motorcycles in Malaysia. This can be seen from the construction of the first motorcycle factory in Malaysia, which is Assembly Plant Boon Siew Boon Siew Sdn Bhd owned in Mak Mandin Industrial Estate, Pulau Pinang. When the plant was built in 1969,Honda motorcycle is no longer installed in Japan but it was installed in Malaysia to save the cost of installation and sales. Besides, Boon Siew Sdn Bhd has also introduced several new models of Honda motorcycles began in 1971, which Honda model S90Z. On this day, there are various types of Honda motorcycles in the market.
He believed that this low-cost, high-efficiency machine would find a similarly receptive market in the rapidly urbanising areas of Malaysia. Boon Siew arranged to meet with Mr. Soichiro Honda, the bike’s creator, and quickly convinced him to set up a Honda subsidiary in Malaysia. This visionary trait that encourages Tan Sri Loh Boon Siew to continue to succeed in the field of motoring.Not all entrepreneurs have the ability to look ahead like Tan Sri Dato’ Loh Boon Siew.A positive attitude is the main weapon in his efforts to continue to move forward in the motor industry in Malaysia. 

5.    FAILURE IS AN OPTION
People who don't fear failure or motivation to someone that failure not being an option is irrelevant.A person who are not fear in failure will aroused their character  to be a bravery by having a higher of level confident inside. Thus, he/she is able to make a right decision in order to achieve goals of company and be able to face the failure that come across on decision that is he/she making. 

Datuk Wan Muhammad Sani Salleh



      It is undeniable that failure is a very bitter pill to swallow. While it is difficult for us to pass through, but if we see the failure of the positive side, it certainly will be a point of failure of the transformer to our lives. Such was passed by Datuk Wan Muhammad Sani Salleh in order to conduct its business.The reputation of Sani Express company has been affected when a double-decker bus crashed at kilometer 272.8 of its North-South Highway, in Ipoh before hitting the road divider which claimed the lives of 10 passengers. This led to a two-tier express bus licenses were canceled and airlines Sani Express was given one month to improve the management system driver. The driver or the administration should give priority to safety because accidents can be prevent if employers and employees focused on the security issues.

            However, the management of the company do not overreact and give up quickly with the fall of their reputation as a leading service company in the country, even Datuk Wan Muhammad Sani Salleh looking for new initiatives to improve their company's name back to take five steps immediately and have an impact in the long term. This failure can be a lesson for him to keep trying to become more successful in the future.
6.    OPEN CULTURE
Concept according to which knowledge should be spread freely and its growth should come from developing/enriching already existing on work of sharing/ collaboration without being restricted by rules.An entrepreneur who is an open culture also is a good motivator as he/she is able in giving some knowledges and sharing experiences that he/she have to other in order to motivate them or to make some improvement.

Datuk Wira Dr. Maznah Hamid


      Datuk Wira Dr.Mazah Hamid not only the successful entrepreneur but she also active in give a talk and sharing about entrepreneurship and motivation. She has been invited to introduce motivation program on TV3 in 1990. She became a counselor motivation and success counselor that we often hear her voices in radio and see her face on TV. Her appearance is widespread in TV1, TV2, TV3, Astro and various other forms of media added to his popularity as a public figure to be reckoned with. In addition, she is also a motivator, human development and entrepreneurship and 'success counselor' in higher education institutions.
Due to her interest in human development, she established the MMC (Maznah Motivational Centre) which organizes seminars on entrepreneurship and human development. Durability,'guts feeling',immunity,'persistency' and 'sustaining power' which she had herself a major asset and that tried to apply to the public through seminars "ZERO TO HERO" and "AWAKEN THE SPIRIT OF ETREPRENEURSHIP / INTRAPRENEURSHIP '.Through this seminar,she would like to raise and absorb the entrepreneurial spirit inside every human being. She has published a book entitled “MOTIVASI MEMBURU KEJAYAAN” (Malay and Mandarin versions), Book Mini Series 3K Secrets - Success, Happiness and Wealth and publishes Motivation Musical Album 3K a hit based on the experiences and principles into practice to him in his pursuit of success.She also has a PhD, Doctorate in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship, Motivation and Human Capital Development of Central State University of New York and President, Malaysian Association of Professional Speakers (MAPS). MAPS is currently a Member of the International Federation for Professional Speakers (IFFPS).

7.    OUTCOME-ORIENTED
Outcome oriented is a personality disposition in which people tend to define success and failure based on winning and losing.Whether an entrepreneur win or lose or achieve a certain target, is possible contrasted with something like a process orientation, where the focus is on the way they play or perform, he/she is  focusing to be winner.

Have you known anyone that is absolutely driven to succeed? No matter what the obstacle, they keep going and in most cases it is because they have extraordinary clarity on the outcome. They took the time to clearly define what it is that they wanted to do. They stopped and thought about their life, and what it was that they wanted to accomplish and this gave them the drive to see the task all the way to its outcome. At first, Datuk Haji Habib Mohamed only support their families by working with the people at the gold shop. Eventually, he began thinking of having his own business too. He chose the jewelery because it is easy and the value of gold is hard to suffer from depreciation. He capitalized RM3800 to started his own gold shop business. He took jewelry from the pawnshop and then clean the item until it looks like new and beautiful then sold to other jewelers like wholesalers. From the small business that just to make a living, now Habib began to grow large.
However, to maintain Habib Jewel is not an easy thing. Cost has always been a major problem in any business. This case has also faced by Habib and he tried to cover the costs by doing various other jobs such as opening a flower shop and sell coffee powder. His hard work do not stop there, he also actively involved in increasing the number of branches of by Habib Jewel throughout Malaysia in order to meet customer demand. Then, Habib Jewel has won several prestigious awards such as the 'Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Award' for several year.

      8.    TEAM-ORIENTED
Team oriented is a group of people organized to work together. In additon, people who include other members in making decision. An entrepreneur would become a supportive who committed to help and encourage one another to grow professionally. Furthermore, become trustworthy by believing that everyone else on the team is working together to solve the problems.

Faiza Bawumi Sayed Ahmad

"I want to be the biggest zakat payers in the country",said the owner of Syarikat Faiza Bhd,Faiza Bawumi Sayed Ahmad.Faiza who like to living in a society says that all the hardship is not just simply to accumulate wealth, but to be the biggest zakat payers in Malaysia thus help more people in need. 9.    PROACTIVE
Taking action and making chances before they need to be make,rather than waiting until the problems develop. A proactiver is a good problem solver as he/she is able to handle any problem without having a panic attack. Also, is a future thinker who is always think for a long term effect of their plan instead of immediate effects such as bankrupt or disasters that out of control.

Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hashim


In 1982, Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hashim purchased the Arab - Malaysian Merchant Bank, now known as AmBank of Arab entrepreneurs, namely Hussain Najadi. Hussain operate the bank in 1975 to bring in investments of state - Arab countries to Malaysia. After the purchase, Tan Sri Azman was appointed as chairman.At the height of the currency crisis, he almost lost his banking empire. Under the central bank-driven banking consolidation programme, Azman's bank was to be swallowed by a smaller financial group. However, Azman managed to convince the authorities to give his group anchor bank status. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, the Arab-Malaysian group's financial arm rebounded strongly. Its strong performance paved the way for Azman to package a restructuring scheme to address the group's RM1.4 billion debts.
Creditors approved the scheme in January last year. Azman's personal debts, which in 1998 was said to be about RM600 million, has also been reduced to a more manageable level. In addition, during the economic downturn in Asia in 1997 Tan Sri Azman has managed to survive in the current situation compared with other banks that have been affected by the crisis. Tan Sri Azman not only managed to maintain its position in the AmBank Group, but he also managed to increase its share in the banking industry with a merger with a subsidiary of MBF Finance AmBank Group, the Arab - Malaysian Finance Berhad. Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hashim is an entrepreneur who likes to look and willing to accept the challenge on the way to achieve his success. In his view, "the harder the challenge, the stronger we strive." How his find Yakult
Dr. Shirota became convinced that beneficial bacteria were the key to a long and healthy life; with the potential to improve health standards. His determination led to a breakthrough in 1930, when he successfully researched a unique lactic acid bacterium with the ability to survive the acidic conditions of the stomach. The bacterium was named the Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain in honour of his research.

Biography
Shirota was born in Inadani, a village near River Inadani Tenryuu in the area lida, Western Nagano, Japan. His family was prosperous in paper and silk worm-rearing business. His ambition turned to medicine as a number of children died in his village due to infectious diseases and malnutrition. In 1921 he entered Kyoto Imperial University’s School of Medicine. In 1940 he earned a PhD in medicine, and joined the faculty of medicine at Kyoto University. During the Japanese invasion of China, he was appointed as a military doctor. Then he became a professor at the University Medical Harupin, China. After the war he returned to Japan to establish Shirota Research Centre in 1939. In 1950 he started Yakult company. In 1955 he moved its company headquarters in Tokyo.

Career
Inspired by the writings of Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov, Shirota developed a stronger strain of lactic acid bacteria which might work to destroy the harmful bacteria living in the intestines, and therefore improve and maintain the health of human beings. In 1930, Shirota was working in a microbiology lab at Kyoto Imperial University's School of Medicine when he became the first in the world to succeed in culturing a strain of lactic acid bacteria beneficial to human health. This bacterium was named Lactobacillus casei strain shirota after Shirota. The result of his efforts was the successful culturing of Lactobacillus casei strain shirota. Shirota then began working together with supporters to make a drink incorporating the strain. This led to the development of Yakult which was introduced to the market in 1935.

Personal life
In 1939, Shirota married Yoshie, with whom he had one son. They lived in Kamigyō-ku in Kyoto. Yoshie died in 1941.
He died in Tokyo, Japan in 1982.

CONCLUSION

      As a conclusion,entrepreneurs are the motive and catalyst of the economy in the country. The countries cannot not reach the level of developed countries if there is no successful entrepreneurs in the country. This is because entrepreneurs are the backbone of the economic development in a country. We must believe that people who have many entrepreneurs is the best because entrepreneurs is an individual who are dynamic and always ready to face any uncertainty in order to pursue success. The characteristics of entrepreneurship will foster themselves out to be more confident and willing to seize the opportunities and facing the challenges. The special characteristics of the entrepreneur showed that they are different from other individuals. If individuals who are new in business want to achieve success like successful entrepreneur in Malaysia should learn and emulate the entrepreneurial traits which is networked, open risk taker, observant, visionary, failure is an option, open culture, outcome oriented, team oriented and proactive.
